Buhari provides proof to broadcast comment on his Daura meeting with Ojukwu on Nigeria’s unity

*Providing proof unnecesssry but commendable – Respondent

“In the meantime, a respondent has said although President Buhari was not under any obligation to have to stress further to provide proof to back up his comment that he truly met with Ojukwu being, he said, that the President’s sincerity and leadership transparency have not and can never benefit the enemies of Nigeria who choose not to believe him, he however said it is highly commendable that the President has done so as a plus to the Buhari-led government and minus to the opposition which dispute without research.”

President Muhammadu Buhari has posted a short clip of him meeting with Chief Emeka Ojukwu.

The video has been uploaded via Buhari’s official Twitter page, as arguments started all over social media, after he mentioned that he met Ojukwu in 2003.

In the clip, the two men are seen shaking hands, during the meeting that took place in the President’s hometown of Daura.

“In 2003 after I joined partisan politics, the late Chief Emeka Ojukwu came and stayed as my guest in my hometown Daura. Over two days we discussed in great depth till late into the night and analyzed the problems of Nigeria. We both came to the conclusion that the country must remain one and united.

“Nigeria’s unity is settled and not negotiable. We shall not allow irresponsible elements to start trouble and when things get bad they run away and saddle others with the responsibility of bringing back order, if necessary with their blood,” Buhari had said during his nationwide broadcast on Monday.

Some Nigerians were not convinced the meeting happened and felt it was all propaganda.

In the meantime, a respondent has said that although President Buhari was not under any obligation to have to stress further to provide proof to back up his comment that he truly met with Ojukwu being, he said, that the President’s sincerity and leadership transparency have not and can never benefit the enemies of Nigeria who choose not to believe him, he however said it is highly commendable that the President has done so as a plus to the Buhari-led government and minus to the opposition which dispute without research.

“People who did all of the evils of the world even when you had not been made presidential candidate of APC to ensure that you were either killed by bomb blast or that you were disqualified from contesting, what can you say that they will believe?

“But you should take solace in the fact that clear majority of the populace who voted for you remain resolute defending their mandate which they gave to you as elected President of Nigeria and they will never be moved by the antics of those ‘filthy dreamers’ who will always be sad at the progresses and successes you advance in favour of Nigeria.

“Today you have not only restored Nigeria to the consciousness of the world as no longer a country on worst list of corruption but also you have returned Nigeria back to its position as Giant of Africa having helped install an elected President in The Gambia, your name and photo winning a presidential election for a candidate in neighbouring Niger Republic and, currently, even while on medical vacation, you became the African Union (AU) best choice to lead anti-corruption fight in Africa,” the respondent said.
