President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday presided over a meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) for the first time after his return from vacation in the United Kingdom.

The last time he presided over a FEC meeting was on January 11 before he departed for London on January 19.  While he was away, his deputy, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, had acted as president.

Buhari arrived at the Council Chambers of the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja at exactly 10.00am.

He directed that the national anthem be recited before asking the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, to say the opening Christian prayer.

Thereafter, the President got ribs cracking by jokingly exclaiming: “I have not seen Lai.”

The information minister quickly responded thus: “I am here sir” and said the Muslim prayer.

The council later went into a closed-door session.
