BUDGETS UNDER TINUBU: THE SCORES ARE FINALLY IN
By UCHE DIALA
I try to close my gadgets and rest but these folks won’t let me.

Okay. So, let us all gather here and listen to 3 of the wise men who have been running our economy. Watch how the geniuses have gone extra miles to convince, sorry, confuse me, I don’t know about you.
Even the desperate effort by and between the 3 wise men to tie in and blame the past seemed reluctant to fly.
Lies and propaganda surely have a brutal way of haunting those who deploy them as weapons.
Whether you take the 30Trillion (securitization) spin or you choose to take the 80Trillion spin, which the 3 wise men threw in just to explain how 70Trillion debt portfolio (according to one of them) turned to 152Trillion in just 31 months, there is still either 122Trillion or 72Trillion to struggle with. Don’t blame me, if you are confused, because I am too.
Wiseman Edun gave the doubling of the exchange rate as part of the excuse. Please, who doubled the exchange rate? Buhari or Jonathan or maybe Peter Obi? At least he looked more sobre of the 3 wise men, maybe even tired and defeated.
Meanwhile, in case some of us may have forgotten, the ways and means that they are talking about today is the same ways and means that they and their vuvuzelas told us and celebrated that they had paid off. No. It wasn’t paid off.
By the way, did any one notice how wise man Zack, the tax collector was gingerly telling us about one year revenue being used for 3 years’ capital expenditure, like they just arrived on the scene. Pray, who has been in charge in the last 3 years? The same wise men and their Oga. Or am I dreaming?
You might ask: Which of the one year are they even talking about? 2023, 2024 or 2025? You might further ask: What happened to the other 2 years?
Where are all the revenues, including the one which their Oga claimed they met the target?
What happened to all the Trillions saved from petrol subsidy removal?
What happened to all the monies borrowed?
Yet the wise men and their Oga at the top couldn’t pity us the captured Nigerians and manage to find money to fund capital budget. They are still talking about 2024 and a meager 30% of 2025 capital budget literally in 2026 (today is 18th December 2025).
Are you confused yet? Because I am thoroughly confused and I understand nothing.
Please hailers and wailers alike, including online and real economic experts, come and help me make what these wise men have transmitted make sense, because I am lost.
It is truly painful to realise that you were right all along.
Over to you my fellow country people. Behold thine wise men in the mud.
