BREAKING: Saraki went to Supreme Court without Senate approval – Senate Leader, Lawan

It has been revealed that Senate President Bukola Saraki’s abrupt postponement of an emergency plenary expected to trash issues of national interest on Tuesday on claim that the Nigerian Senate in its resolve to go to the Supreme Court over the suspension by President Muhammadu Buhari of the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).

Saraki, according to a statement by his Special on Media and Publicity, Alhaji Yusuph Olaniyonu, cancelled the emergency meeting of the senate even as House of Representatives went ahead attending to pressing national issues at its own level including the National Minimum Wage.

But on Wednesday, Majority Leader of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Ahmed Lawan speaking on Good Morning Nigeria programme on Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) disclosed that the Senate President acted on its own.

Lawan said there was no time Saraki informed them or called a meeting of the Senate to discuss going to Supreme Court.  I therefore advise Saraki to withdrawn the case from Supreme Court with immediate effect, he said.
