“Let Ajayi go and be rest assured that he cannot be governor of Ondo State by his politics of life, especially now that our governor is tested negative and is back with us again,” he said.
Governor of Ondo State, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN), has tested negative for Coronavirus, COVID-19.
He had tested positive barely a week ago for the dangerous virus, which did not spare the life of his Commissioner for Health and Chairman if the state’s Inter-Ministerial Committee on COVID-19, Dr. Abdul-Wahab Oluropo Adegbenro.
Governor Akeredolu, in a statewide broadcast, said after spending days in isolation, doctors confirmed him negative after running the test twice.
The governor urged residents of the state to always take precautions against the dreaded virus.
He said despite the challenges, government will continue to sustain the effort to contain the menace
The DEFENDER reports that opposition to the governor’s administration and his his re-election bid had seized his recent health challenge to criticise him for holding on to power as his deputy, Agboola Ajayi, reportedly gave him 14 days to hand over to him or face the consequences.
Respondents sympathetic with the governor however described the attitude of the Deputy Governor, who recently decamped to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as unstatesmanly.
They congratulated Governor Akeredolu on his recovery even as one of them slammed the deputy and his promoters for playing on the intelligence of Ondo State “they used the life of late Abiola Ajimobi to play politics”.
The source, who did not want to be mentioned, said: “I can assure you that the deputy was mean to have given the governor 14 days ultimatum to handover to him. That shows you that his likes are those that cannot be happy to see Akeredolu survive the situation where he tested positive for Coronavirus.
“I can only tell you, now that the wind has blown and we have seen the rump of the foul in these elements, let Ajayi go and be rest assured that he cannot be governor of Ondo State by his politics of life, especially now that our governor is tested negative and is back with us again,” he said.
