BREAKING: Omisore, APC seal deal to work together at Osun re-run

It has come to our notice that the Candidate of Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the last Saturday’s governorship election in Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore, has agreed to work with the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the success of its candidate, Alhaji Isiaka Gboyega Oyetola, at the coming Thursday’s re-run election in the state.

A source in the APC National Secretariat confirmed the new development to The DEFENDER Wednesday morning.

It said the deal was sealed after an APC high power team led the ruling Party’s National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, met in Osogbo on early Wednesday with Omosore, who is also former Deputy Governor of Osun State during the Bisi Akande’s Alliance for Democracy-led Administration.

“The SDP Candidate in last Saturday’s Governorship Election in Osun State, Chief Iyiola Omisore, has agreed to work with the APC in Thursday’s rerun. The deal was sealed after a meeting between Chief Omisore and an APC Team led by Chairman Adams Oshiomhole in Osogbo early Wednesday,” the source said.

On the team with Oshiomhole were Governors of Ogun, Kano, Oyo, Jigawa, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, Dr. Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, Senator Ishaq Abiola Ajimobi and Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, respectively, Governor-elect of Ekiti, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, and the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.

The new move by APC has been commended as one showcasing the ruling party as political organisation out to prove to others within and outside the country that politics can be played cleanly without the involvement of inducement of any type.

A respondent, reacting to the development, said, “It is now I know that APC is serious.  Some of us have blamed it for not doing what the PDP used to do; rigging by the Federal Might, seeing that while the PDP politicians were spending their all to compromise operators of the process, the APC was just looking.  But now, let us go there,” he said.
