BREAKING: France beat Croatia to win 2018 World Cup

France has beaten Croatia 4-2 on Sunday to lift the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

The French side are lifting the trophy for the second time in 20 years.

A Mario Mandzukic own goal in the 18th minute put France ahead.

However, Ivan Perisic fired home an equalised 10 minutes later.

On the 38th minute, referee Nestor Pitana controversially awarded a spot-kick for a handball by Perisic after consulting the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) and Antoine Griezmann converted for his fourth goal of the tournament.

Against the run of play, Paul Pogba and Kylian Mbappé scored two fast goals on 59th and 65th minutes respectively to take the game beyound Croatia.

Though, Mandzukic scored from a Hugo Lloris error on the 69th minute, it could only be a consolation goal as the French ran out 4-2 winners.
