Book with foreward written by Sultan, honouring Prof Mora at 70, debuts May 13

A well cultured disciplinarian and childhood friend of Nigeria’s most influential traditional leaders Sultan of Sokoto Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, Professor Ahmed Mora is currently the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Governing Council, Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo State.
A book celebrating the life, achievements and contributions of renowned pharmacist and academic, Professor Ahmed Tijjani Mora, is set to be officially launched on May 13, 2026, in Kaduna, Kaduna State as part of activities marking his 70th birthday anniversary.
The book, titled “Professor Ahmed Tijjani Mora: A Pillar of Pharmacy Regulation in Nigeria,” highlights the decades-long contributions of the respected scholar, administrator and pharmaceutical regulator whose career has impacted pharmacy education, mentorship and healthcare regulation across Nigeria.
The event, which is expected to attract prominent personalities from the healthcare sector, academia, government institutions and the wider public, will take place at the Abyssinia Hall of Hotel Seventeen, Kaduna.
Professor Mora, who clocked 70 on the day of the launch, graduated from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, as a pharmacist in 1978. Through years of academic dedication and professional excellence, he rose to become a Professor of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Practice, earning recognition as one of Nigeria’s influential voices in pharmaceutical education and regulation.
Over a career spanning more than five decades, Mora taught and mentored thousands of students across several institutions, including Ahmadu Bello University, Kaduna State University, and Igbinedion University, Okada. Many of his former students and professional associates are said to have gone on to occupy strategic positions within Nigeria’s healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors.
The publication project was initiated by former students, colleagues and associates under the platform of the Prof. A. T. Mora Book Project Committee, chaired by Pharm. Aliyu Jibrin. According to the committee, the book was conceived to document and preserve Mora’s enduring legacy, particularly his role in strengthening pharmacy practice and pharmaceutical regulation in Nigeria.
The publication extensively chronicles Mora’s involvement with major pharmaceutical regulatory institutions in the country, including the former Pharmacists Board of Nigeria and the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN). Between 1989 and 2023, he served the institutions in several capacities, including Board Member, Registrar/Chief Executive Officer, and later Chairman of the Governing Council.

One of the major highlights of the publication is its foreword, written by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar. The foreword reflects the longstanding relationship between the monarch and Professor Mora, while also acknowledging Mora’s commitment to professionalism, national development, peaceful coexistence and interfaith harmony.
Several high-profile dignitaries are expected at the launch ceremony. Former Vice President Namadi Sambo will serve as Chairman of the occasion, while the Emir of Zazzau, Ambassador Ahmad Nuhu Bamalli, is billed to attend as the Traditional Father of the Day.
Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, is expected as the Special Guest of Honour, while the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, will attend as Guest of Honour.
The book review will be conducted by Professor Abdulmumini Hassan Rafindadi, former Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Lokoja.
Organisers say the event will not only celebrate the achievements of Professor Mora but also provide an opportunity to reflect on the growth of pharmaceutical education and regulation in Nigeria, sectors in which the celebrant has played a significant role for decades.
