Media Watch Group mourns Bola Ajibola’s death, describes him ‘a tremendous personality’

The Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria (MMWG) has extolled the leadership qualities of the former Judge of the International Court of Justice at The Hague, Netherlands, Prince Abdul-Jabbar Bola Ajibola (SAN), who died in the early hours of Sunday 9th April, 2023.

In a press statement issued and copy of which was sent to The DEFENDER same day, the National Coordinator of the Group, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi, described the late judiciary giant, who had his expertise cut across the bar and the bench, as a tremendous personality having fulfilled the purpose of his existence in all spheres of life.

The Group said Prince Bola Ajibola was an outstanding international jurist, who was President of the World Court at The Hague and a committed Muslim, who served as good Ambassador of Islam everywhere.

The deceased pioneered establishment of an Islamic university, named Crescent University Abeokuta, several years ago to promote high standard of education.

The university, singularly financed by him, came at the time of need to fill the gap created by shortage of high ibstitutions, to meet the yearnings of the Nigerian society irrespective of religious and ethnic backgrounds of students.

The Muslim Media Watch Group said the death of first President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) should serve as a lesson to other wealthy Nigerians, especially the Muslims, pointing out that those who use their hard-earned wealth to better the lots of their people would reap the benefits here in this world and in the hereafter.

The Group said the departure of the Olori Omo Oba of Owu Kingdom has thrown a challenge to other well- to-do Muslims, men and women, in Nigeria as it called on them to emulate the departed Prince Ajibola by contributing meaningfully to the religious, educational, social and medical well-being of the Nigerian people for abundant rewards from Almighty Allah.
