The Buhari Media Organisation (BMO) has said that the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is in no position to advise the Muhammadu Buhari administration on governance.

The group said this against the backdrop of two separate statements issued by the PDP leadership and governors elected on the platform of the party, on sundry issues.

In a statement signed by its Chairman Niyi Akinsiju and Secretary Cassidy Madueke, BMO argued that issues raised by the opposition were those it did not show capacity to handle in the 16 years it was in power at the centre.

“it is hilarious to hear PDP elements claiming that the Central Bank is being run like a government within a government at a time the Bank is doing far more than it has ever done in its existence.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the CBN was literally reduced to a cash dispensing machine in the PDP years from where slush funds were taken out for political purposes without recourse to standard procedures.

“There are infact court documents showing how CBN directors transferred millions of dollars from the $322m Abacha loot in cash on the orders of senior government officials of the ruling party in the run up to the 2014 elections, to the extent that the apex bank nearly ran out of hard currency.

“Yet, people who oversaw those cash movements are pontificating and describing a bank that now provides funds for productive ventures like local rice production in uncomplimentary terms.

“Equally surprising is PDP tagging NNPC operation as opaque at a time the corporation now renders its expenditure monthly and also makes its audit report public.

“These were people that had no qualms running the state oil corporation like a fiefdom  and did not bother to get any of the nation’s four refineries working in 16 years.

“We see this as crude politicking and we challenged them to show how CBN and NNPC were better run in the PDP years”.

The group also had something to say about the opposition party’s scathing comments on the Electoral Act Amendment bill.

“We noticed how the opposition elements have in recent times launched what look  like coordinated attacks against President Buhari on the electoral act amendment bill as well as on the fuel situation.

“Now, we find it shocking that a party harbouring people who had threatened to take legal action against the President if he signed the bill in its previous form are giving unsolicited advice on the reworked bill.

“We make bold to say that President Buhari will do what is in the best interest of the nation within the window allowed by the Constitution on bills sent for his assent.

“On issues related to adulterated fuel and the resultant effect, Nigerians could clearly see that it is a one-off situation which the President did not prevaricate before ordering a probe.

“We acknowledge that the country is now witnessing the type of fuel queues not seen in the last 7 years, but we are convinced that the Buhari administration is doing a lot to address the situation.

“This can never be compared to what we all went through before 2015 when queues at fuel stations were part of the nation’s landscape, so there is nothing for PDP elements to gloat about”.

The group urged Nigerians to continue to trust in President Buhari’s capacity to make Nigeria better than he met it.
