A REMINDER…. to the Nigerians who never see anything good in their own nation.
This class of Nigerians would insist that Nigeria and its government are not doing anything at all in the fight and containment of the Covid-19. (Don’t even bother asking them whether they are doing their own roles as citizens).
They would show you wonderful pictures from Ghana; how their government is disinfecting everywhere, how the government quarantined all returnees; they will so rub it in your face to see why Nigeria is the worst nation on earth.
I have something to show them:
As at 24th of this month (March), Ghana had only 27 confirmed cases of coronavirus, while Nigeria had about 40 confirmed cases.
Just a day after, Ghana’s case jumped Nigeria’s. As at yesterday (Wednesday March 25) afternoon, Ghana already has 53 confirmed cases; Nigeria is still on 46.
Yes, we are not testing enough, so is Ghana too. There is no denying that there are some positive cases not yet captured or tested….so it is in Ghana too.
Note too: Ghana has recorded 2 deaths 0 recovery; while Nigeria has recorded just 1 death and 2 recoveries.
I think that besides ensuring containment of the spread, major focus would be on recoveries. It is almost a given that anyone can easily contact this virus, but so far, Nigeria, among other African nations, has proven that if you contact it here, it does not amount to death sentence.
We already know how many highly placed Nigerians that have contacted it, and are currently isolated. But there is hope, and a huge HOPE at that, that they would all be fine. The hope stems from the recoveries had already, no matter how insignificant.
Today, Ghanaians look up to Nigeria, but the nation’s naysayers would rather look up to Ghana, Sudan, Somalia because they believe that their own country is the worst on earth.
Please don’t remind me about Rwanda, because some of you would be dead by now, if Buhari ruled Nigeria like Rwanda.
