Saraki and Dogara: Boxed in one corner over Electoral Act amendment bill trick?

“Nigerians are in full support of President Muhammadu Buhari’s refusal to assent to  the Electoral Act (Amendment) Bill because they don’t see any problem with the current Electoral Act that makes it deserve amendment for the selfish and political gain of powers behind the looters and their cabal.”

The Battles Against Corruption in Nigeria Group) has expressed delight over the refusal of President Muhammadu Buhari to assent to the Electoral Act (amendment) Bill recently passed by the National Assembly.
The Canada-based anti-corruption organisation made this expression in a message signed by its President, Mr. Waheed Seriki, and sent to The DEFENDER on Tuesday.
It said the refusal of President Muhammadu Buhari to sign the Electoral Act (amendment) Bill as passed was a welcome development, pointing out that the bill was merely passed by the National Assembly for their selfish and personal interest and to indirectly circumvent the will of Nigerians in 2019 election.
“The goal of the National Assembly in passing the bill is for the members of the house to be able to maneuver and use undue influence in subsequent elections, after senatorial election.  That is the main purpose of making the NASS election in the bill as the first election that will be conducted  in 2019.
“It is very sad and unfortunate if the people that were elected to the legislative chambers are using their position to promote their greedy, selfish and personal interest without respect for the people that voted for them.
The group said the amendment of the electoral arrangement without any concrete reason was a misuse of power vested on the members of NASS to enact law for the country, even as it said that the actions of Nigeria National Assembly in their attempt to amend the ‘Electoral Act’ to their favour was an attempt to sabotage the country’s democratic arrangement and institution in a way, which will make it difficult for INEC to conduct free and fair election particularly come 2019.
“No Nigerian has ever complained about the election arrangement in Nigeria. So we see no reason the legislators, rather than focus on enacting the bill that will promote good government, eradicate poverty  and corruption that is the main architect of the country’s present problem, will be diverting their energy and country’s resources to irrelevant amendment that will have no impact on free and fair election.”
The group lambasted the legislative arm and charged them to put an end to their rascality, misuse of power and their constant holding the citizens hostage in an effort to flex muscle and consume the executive arm of government.
“Nigerians do not see anything wrong with the present election arrangement and they will not succumb to the legislative arm’s attempt to manipulate, enslave, and consume them for their personal interest and to promote their Power Hungry Disorder syndrome.
“The Senate President, Bukola Saraki, and his cabal in NASS should reopen the legislative chamber to pave the way for the government of the country to function effectively rather than promoting the victimisation and witch-hunting of President Buhari’s administration because of Saraki’s ambition to become president in 2019.
“Nigerians are in full support of President Muhammadu Buhari’s refusal to assent to  the Electoral Act (Amendment) Bill because they don’t see any problem with the current Electoral Act that makes it deserve amendment for the selfish and political gain of powers behind the looters and their cabal,” it said.

  1. Am in assist of NASS,u are unable to be psychological with development of this Region. Hiding at the rear of get together affiliate to hinder our development.

If NASS pulls this off, that would be the very best reward to Nigerians this period.
Electoral reform is not about Buhari successful or getting rid of election,
it’s about Nigeria conducting credible elections no subject who is president!

Buhari is a menace to Nigeria’s democracy! It is a shame
he wants to exploit loopholes from the previous election to
    fraudulently earn re-election.

It is necessary. A examine on the 2015 election benefits exhibits
that out of the above 2million votes Buhari
bought from Kano, in excess of 1million came from people
with no voters card. In Katsina, out of above 1million votes
he got there, above seven hundred thousand came from persons with no
    voters card.
This amended act will take away these types of and allow us have actual voters.

  2. Aliu Wammako says:

    Nice initiative from the president
