Arewa group urges Ado Bayero to vacate Kano for peace to reign

The Arewa Social Contract Initiatives, a non-governmental organisation, has charged the deposed Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, to vacate the ancient city in the spirit of peace and stability.

The group, which summoned an emergency meeting of the 19 Northern States in Kano stakeholders, was worried that the sudden return of the dethroned Emir Ado Bayero to Kano after packing his belongings was cooked to ignite serious civil unrest in the city.

The National Chairman of the Group, Sani Muhamud Darma, while reading the communique of the meeting on Saturday May 25, 2024 in Kano, said that, “Aminu Ado Bayero’s actions have clearly negated the tradition of the Emirate Council which he belongs to.”

He reminded Bayero that history would never be kind to him if he stood as the source of uncertainty and chaos which might consume many lives in the State.

In the meantime, Kano State High Court Monday had ordered Ado Bayero and occupants of the four other dissolved Emirates created by Abdullahi Ganduje in 2019 to stop parading themselves as Emirs in Kano.

The court ordered the police to evict Ado Bayero from the palace guest house he had occupied, after his evacuation from the main palace on order directives of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, and secure the martabah.
