The legal adviser explained that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has demonstrated commitment in the fight against corruption in the country but the seeming baggage of corruption hanging on Ganduje may dent the good fight of the president.

National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has been suspended over corruption allegation.

Ganduje’s membership suspension by his kinsmen came few weeks after the former Governor was slammed with eight count charges bordering on corruption and misappropriation of public fund.

Gwanjo told journalists that executive members resolved to pass a vote of no confidence on the APC acting National Chairman due to his inability to clear his name from wide range of allegation of corruption particularly the celebrated dollar video.

According to Gwanjo, “We the leaders of the APC in Ganduje ward, Dawakin Tofa Local Government, engaged in thorough deliberations and subsequently decided to suspend the erstwhile Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, in light of the allegations of bribery involving foreign currency.

“It has come to our attention that Ganduje has been summoned to court to answer for these accusations, a development that we believe could potentially besmirch the reputation of our esteemed political party.

“Because of this we have reached a resolution to pass a vote of no confidence on Ganduje and to collectively on behalf of all executive members of the APC in Ganduje ward, Dawakin Tofa suspend him, until he clear and that of his family at the court”.

The APC leader at Ganduje ward worried that the party is being subjected to unnecessary embarrassment from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) over unsubstantiated allegations of corruption lebelled on Ganduje’s administration.

Gwanjo emphasized that Ganduje ward leaders deem it fit to carry sack the national chairman to enable him concentrate on the litigation and other inquiry where he (Ganduje) would appropriately clear his image and that of his family.

The legal adviser explained that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has demonstrated commitment in the fight against corruption in the country but the seeming baggage of corruption hanging on Ganduje may dent the good fight of the president.

In the meantime, the State Working Committee of the APC, in a swift response, has sanctioned the Ganduje ward executives hours after the suspension was announced.

State chairman of the party, Abdullahi Abbas, announced the suspension of the Ganduje ward executives for six months for anti-party activities.

“We have evidence of meetings between the State Government officials and those that suspended the National Chairman, and the state working committee has agreed to sanction them for six months and they stand suspended,” Mr Abbas said.

Mr Abbas said the suspension announced by the ward executives is invalid, null and void and urged concerned parties not to bother about it.

The DEFENDER gathered that, like it happened to Oshiomhole, since Ganduje has now been suspended by his own people, the APC will have no choice than to replace him not withstanding the counter action by state chairman of the party.
