Alleged cabal: You can’t detach Osinbajo from Buhari – Presidency

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, has dismissed the notion that some ‘cabal’ are not happy with the positive performance of Acting President Yemi Osinbajo.

Malam Shehu, who fielded questions from journalists after an interactive session with the youths over the weekend in Abuja, said the feat achieved by Osinbajo is for the Muhamaddu Buhari administration.

“This country has one government. When Nigerians voted, they voted for Buhari/Osinbajo on one ticket. Nobody can divide that ticket. So, if Prof. Osinbajo achieves a milestone, it is a milestone by the Buhari administration. It’s one government, no division in this government,” he also said.

He said President Buhari focused on the war against corruption, the restructuring of the economy and the battle against insecurity to secure the future of the younger generation.

He said, “he (Buhari) says this country cannot make any progress without security. There are many people who believe that were it not for President Buhari, if PDP had continued in this country in 2015, they would have taken over Aso Rock by now.We have achieved so much in terms of security.

“On the war against corruption, people are stealing money, huge amounts of money, the kind of money that they don’t need, what do you need that kind of money for? Look at the one from Kaduna, on Friday, I was at another event and they said the man’s aunt said she wanted food, he said there was no money.

“Look at the huge amount of money in a neighbourhood that had no electricity, no road, no water, in the same compound, you had low level hardworking Nigerians. They didn’t know they resided in a compound billions of Naira was kept from stolen funds.

“This is just the beginning of good things to come because the important policy of whistle blower that the president has instituted gives an opportunity to me, you and to every citizen of this country. If you see stolen money going anywhere, you will not only be honoured for pointing it out for discovery but you can earn some commission or reward by exposing that. About 10 million USD and they give you 2.5 of that. That money can change one’s life.”

He said the effort to restructure the economy had become manifest and that the country will soon come out of the recession, considering what he called the “big boom in agriculture”. “And in a year or two, this country will be selling rice, sugar abroad,” he also said.
