Akorede congratulates Gov Aiyedatiwa over election victory

The Grand Imam of Akure Kingdom in Akure South Local Government Area, Shaikh AbdulHakeem Yayi Akorede, has sent his word of congratulation to the Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, on his victory at the Saturday’s governorship election in the state.

Aiyedatiwa, candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the exercise, defeated other contesters including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate by landslide victory to emerge as Governor-Elect for another four years tenure.

Following the passing of his boss, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, on Wednesday December 27, 2023, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, his Deputy, was sworn in same day as substantive Governor in his place.

In a message to the victorious candidate, the Chief Imam of Akure Kingdom, Akorede, said, “| would like to extend my warm congratulations on your victory and my best wishes for your success as you prepare to continue to take up the responsibilities of our dear Sunshine State.”

He expressed belief that the Governor-Elect’s administration will continue to provide good governance to for the good of the people of Ondo State and develop cordial relationship between ensure concerted effort in the course of peace and brotherhood of all peoples across the sunshine state.

The DEFENDER had earlier reported some Ondo voters telling why they voted for Aiyedatiwa as their votes for him were not for APC but for his personality.

It will be recalled that Aiyedatiwa, as Deputy Governor with chieftaincy matters under him, had saved Ondo State communities from communal crisis resulting from Obaship and other issues this bringing peace and security to the core South West state.

With this singular ability to make peace despite efforts of some elements not to let it happen, the voters said, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa deserved their votes as they said Ondo State people are not pushovers.
