He made this condolence in a statement on Monday July 7, 2025.

Reflecting on the life and legacy of the late Olubadan, who ascended to the throne just one year prior, Ricketts described him as a man of kind heart, committed to the welfare of his people and the broader society.

He acknowledged that the Olubadan’s reign was marked by peace, harmony, and stability, which he maintained from before his ascension to the throne.

“While we mourn the loss of a great leader, we find comfort in knowing that he lived a life filled with the fear of God and presided over a reign that was free from crisis, fostering peace and tranquility among his people,” Ricketts stated.

He prayed for the eternal rest of the late Olubadan, remarking, “We are consoled by the fact that he came, he saw, and he conquered. He arrived at the throne in peace and departed from this world peacefully. The memory of his reign will forever remain in the hearts of the people of Ibadan, throughout Yoruba Land, and within the entire traditional institution in Nigeria.”
