The wife of the President, Hajia Aisha Buhari, has said that her husband’s health condition is not as bad as being perceived.

Hajia Buhari stated this Tuesday evening on her Twitter handle, @aishambuhari.

According to her, the President continues to discharge his responsibilities.

It was the first time she would be making comments on her husband’s health since he returned from medical vacation in the United Kingdom on March 10.

Aisha Buhari thanked all Nigerians for their concern, love and prayers over her husband’s health status.

She stated: “I thank all Nigerians for their concern, love and prayers over my husband’s health status.

“I wish to inform everyone that his health is not as bad as it is being perceived. Meanwhile, he continues to carry out his responsibilities during this period.

“As it may come to your notice, he is meeting with the Minister of Justice and the GMD of the NNPC this evening.

“Long live Nigerians.  Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

The President had not been seen in public in recent times. Within last month, he was absent twice at the Federal Executive Council meeting.

Amidst fresh speculations about Buhari’s health status, his handlers had told the nation that he was acting slowly on doctors’ advice.

A respondent of The DEFENDER however said, Tuesday night, that the public outcries over health of the President was unnecessary being that the President had never hidden anything from Nigerians about himself.  “When he left Nigeria in January, he said he was going on 10 days annual leave.  Some people rumoured immediately after he left that he was dead. He later extended his 10 days leave until return on March 10.

“Upon his return from UK he told Nigerians that he would be back in London in weeks for follow up saying he had never been so sick.  He also told Nigerians that his doctors asked him to have enough time to rest.  That was what I believe the President has done but, as if they are being ungrateful to the him for the almost impossible job of waging war against corruption that the President is doing for them, some Nigerians almost did not allow him enough rest asking him to resign, step down and that is the most unfair attitude towards a selfless leader like President Muhammadu Buhari coming from a people he devoted himself to serve,” said the respondent.
