AGILE initiators engage media practitioners in Zamfara

The Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) has solicited the support of media practitioners in mobilizing and enlightening the general public towards success of the project in Zamfara State.

Speaking during a bi-annual media round table meeting in Gusau, the state AGILE coordinator, Saadatu Audu Gusau, said the project would not succeed without enlisted support and cooperation of the media practitioners and relevant stakeholders.

She added that these are especially needed in mobilizing the rural people, who are mostly the targeted beneficiaries.

According to her, the media need to help enlighten rural people on the importance of sending girl child to school to aquire education and skills needed for a better society.

She said AGILE would continue to engage the services of media practitioners in educating parents and stakeholders on preparation and activities of the project “to ensure that people are adequately mobilized and enlightened, so that they can send their children back to school.”

She said, “AGILE has mapped out several strategy on how to involve media practitioners in the implementation of the programme.

She said the project would “make sure that all girls that are suppose to be in school are sent back to school as no girl child would be left over, so the need to mobilize parents and enlighten them on the benefit of educating the girl child.”

Also speaking at the meeting, the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Wadatau Madawaki, said Zamfara State government would give all the necessary requirements and support needed for success of the AGILE project.
