Adamu Garba explains focus on Iran conflict over Boko Haram, ISIS

He continued, “I’m passionate about the global system and that is why, despite my work burden, I still have time to follow trend and keep up with my information sources.

Former Nigerian presidential aspirant Adamu Garba has sparked reactions after stating that he is more engaged with international conflicts, particularly tensions involving Iran, than with insurgencies affecting Nigeria.

Garba made the remarks in response to a user on the social media platform X who questioned his apparent silence on attacks by extremist groups such as Boko Haram and Islamic State.

In his reply, Garba said his interest in global conflicts is driven by a long-standing passion for history, geopolitics, and warfare strategy. He described international crises as areas of personal study and research spanning over a decade.

According to him, while some observers seek updates on ongoing conflicts, his focus is rooted in deeper analytical interest in global systems and military strategy. He added that he devotes time, despite a busy schedule, to following developments in international affairs.

Garba also stated that he lacks sufficient knowledge about Boko Haram and ISIS activities, suggesting that those seeking such insights should consult individuals more familiar with those issues.

In his response, the former presidential aspirant argued that he is passionate about “the war”, citing his interest in history, geopolitics and warfare strategy.

He explained that he is deeply interested in international conflicts such as the Iran war that United States of America and Israel have inflicted on themselves and peace of the world, noting that he is disinterested in Boko Haram and ISIS.

“To you, the war is about the need for update, to me, is about passion and history. I am very passionate about history, geopolitics and warfare strategy. That is part of my passion of study and research for over a decade”, he stated

He continued, “I’m passionate about the global system and that is why, despite my work burden, I still have time to follow trend and keep up with my information sources.

“You can go ahead and follow those who understand the situation of Boko Haram and ISIS, I have no knowledge on that”, he stated.”

His comments have since generated debate over public figures’ engagement with domestic security challenges versus global geopolitical events.
