The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oyo State has called for unity and cohesion among its members as the party intensifies preparations for the 2027 governorship election.

The call was made during an expanded stakeholders’ meeting held at the ADC state office in Mokola, Ibadan.
The event drew party leaders from Oyo and neighbouring states, including the Oyo State Chairman, Alhaji Yinka Olona; Ogun State Chairman, Femi Soluade; and Ondo State Chairman, Bar. Ayowole Ademoyegun, alongside federal constituency and local government chairmen, women and youth leaders, and aspirants for various political offices.
Prominent legal practitioner and party chieftain, Chief Niyi Aborisade, emerged as a key highlight of the gathering. His presence underscored the growing influence of ADC’s professional and reform-minded bloc and was widely acknowledged by members as a stabilising force within the party.
The key aspirant for the Oyo governorship, who addressed the meeting, described the ADC as a party of “light and hope”, appealing for the support of party members in the forthcoming elections.
”The rationale behind the meeting is to consolidate the gains of ADC. Those who have left their previous parties in all the 33 LGs were there. The emphasis should be on the party’s unity rather than on power brokers. We must resolve to work together to capture Oyo State for ADC and produce the next governor. To achieve this, all hands must be on deck”, Aborisade said.
Speaking at the event, Femi Soluade lauded the leadership of Alhaji Olona and emphasised unity and discipline as vital tools for consolidating the party’s gains and securing electoral success.
Alhaji Olona highlighted the ADC’s recent achievements, including the acquisition of a permanent office building and the successful organisation of leadership conferences and coalition meetings across the state. He further revealed that party membership had grown to about 264,000 members statewide, urging stakeholders to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
The meeting brought together representatives from all 33 local government areas, including former members of other parties, with emphasis placed on unity rather than individual power brokers. Aspirants were formally introduced, and directions were given to new members to actively participate at ward levels and engage in mass mobilisation to register additional supporters.
Resolutions from the meeting stressed that “all hands must be on deck” to capture Oyo State for the ADC, asserting that the party is rapidly gaining popularity nationwide and positioning itself as a credible alternative in the state.
The stakeholders’ meeting concluded with goodwill messages from party leaders and aspirants, reaffirming their commitment to the ADC’s vision of credible governance, internal democracy, and grassroots mobilisation.
