Isolo Owayoko festival grand finale holds today Sept 15, 2024

The Isolo people’s traditional yam festival, Owayoko, holds today Sunday September 15, 2024 in the ancient autonomous community in Akure South, Ondo State, South West Nigeria.
It will be recalled that the ‘festival week’ was flagged off on Wednesday September 11 with special prayers for the kingdom, success of the coming governorship election and supporting the government of Ondo State and Nigeria, while markets and shops were ordered to shut down.
This Sunday is day the festival reaches its climax as Owayoko proper will be celebrated by the traditional ruler, Osolo of Isolo Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Oba (Dr.) Edward Kolawole Adejoyegbe Adewole, Osalade II, Akesoogun Orisa Obaluaye Mosu, who will be joined by sons, daughters, subjects and well wishers of Isolo in the festival of unity.
“It is indeed yet another year of festival of the ancient town; Isolo. A traditional festival of Isolo people that depicts bountiful harvest and new yam Celebration.
“His Royal Majesty Oba (Dr) Edward Kolawole Adejoyegbe Adewole, Akesoogun Orisa Obaluaye Mosu, Osalade II, Osolo of Isolo Kingdom in fulfilment of the tradition of Isolo and following the antecedent of his ancestors Celebrates 2024 edition of Owayoko festival on Sunday 15th September, 2024 in his palace.
Isolo council of chiefs, Isolo sons and daughters at home and in diaspora together with all residents of Isolo felicitate Kabiesi on the Celebration of Owayoko festival 2024.
“The festival which commenced on Wednesday continues with early morning prayers on Sunday 15th September, 2024 at the palace of Osolo of Isolo Kingdom all are invited to celebrate with Kabiesi,” Ayomide Michael, Special Assistant to the Osolo on Media and Administration, said in a statement issued on Saturday.
