His Royal Majesty Oba (Dr) Edward Kolawole Adejoyegbe Adewole, Osalade II, Osolo of Isolo Kingdom in Akure South, Ondo State, has informed all residents of the autonomous community to go about their normal business activities as, according to him, markets and shops remain open for business on Tuesday August 27, 2024 during the celebration of Aheregbe festival in Akure.
The Akesoogun Orisa Obaluaye Mosu said his directive was in accordance with the ancient tradition of the Isolo Land.
Speaking from his palace, the peace loving traditional ruler noted that “Aheregbe is traditional festival of Akure which has no link with Isolo people.”
According to a statement by his Special Assistant on Media and Administration, Comrade Ayomide Michael, the Osolo further reminded the people of his kingdom about the state government’s ban on closure of all markets during any community festival.
The DEFENDER reports the government, according to the statement, “saying community festival should be restricted to the Oba market of the celebrating community.”
Oba Edward Adewole said, “In the light of the above, all residents of Isolo Kingdom should continue with their normal business activities.”
On the celebration of this year’s Aheregbe festival, the Osolo of Isolo felicitated His Imperial Majesty Oba (Dr) Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi, Odundun II, Deji of Akure Kingdom that he shall celebrate many festivals on the throne of his forefathers.
