Zamfara APC crisis worsens, as State Working Committee splits, reverses Jaji’s suspension

*Okays suspension of state secretary, 3 others

The Zamfara State chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) has been split into two factions believed to be loyal to two powerful politicians in the state.

The faction believed to be loyal to Hon Sani Jaji, member representing Birnin Magaji/Laura Namoda federal constituency under the leadership of Mansur Khalifa Kaura, assistant secretary, and 12 others, acted after it received a report from APC Birnin Magaji Local Government.

Briefing newsmen shortly after receiving the report, the faction leader said the report contained a denial of endorsing the suspension of Hon Sani Jaji by Birnin Magaji ward of APC.

He also said the report also contained recommendation for the suspension of state Secretary of APC, Ibrahim Umar, an indigene from Birnin Magaji Local Government ward; Chairman, Bello Maizogala; APC Local Government Chairman, Yusuf Awa Goma; and his Secretary, Salmanu Umar.

Their offence, according to the report was that they committed anti-party and connived with the APC’s state secretary to suspend Hon Jaji without the knowledge of other members.

Khalifa said “all the recommendations and prayers answered and endorsed as follows; the suspension of Honourable Sani Jaji has been reversed. It is null and void and has no effect whatsoever.

“The suspension of APC chairman and his secretary of Birnin Magaji as well as ward chairman of Birnin Magaji endorsed.”

Mansur Khalifa Kaura said all those suspended can no longer do anything or act on behalf of the party or represent the party in whatever capacity as they have been suspended by their ward

He said the 12 of them had been sidelined in all activities of the party, particularly in decisions making, which would no longer be tolerated .

He disclosed that all their decisions would be communicated to the National headquarters of APC for ratification.
