Buhari mourns death of Ogbonnaya Onu, calls him intelligent giant

Former President Muhammadu Buhari, on Thursday 11th April 2024, reacted to tge demise of his former Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation as well as rumoured would-have-been successor, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu.
The DEFENDER, while reporting the death, had earlier said had the Emilokan emergence not arisen and his rumoured desire to have Igbo man succeed him cane through, that Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu would have not only ruled Nigeria but would by now be fifth President of the country to die in office.

The second of only two Nigerians to have ruled the country, first as Military Head of State and two terms as democratically elected President, joined “family members of the deceased and the entire nation in mourning the demise of a notable politician, Dr. OgbonnayaOnu, the first civilian governor of Abia state and former minister of Science, Technology and Innovation under his administration,” a statement sebtbto The DEFENDER said.
In his reaction to the news of the death of the former Chairman of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), a party that once fielded him as a presidential candidate in 2007, Muhammadu Buhari said the nation had lost “one of its most outstanding scientific minds and intellectuals.”
“He was an intellectual giant. My heart goes out to his family, the government and people of Abia State and the country at large. May his soul rest in peace,” Buhari added in the statement by his former Pr3sidential Spokesman, Mallam Garba Shehu.
