The Chairman of Asi-Dosunmu Royal Family, Alhaji Raufu Ishola-Lemomu, who died in Lagos on Friday has been laid to rest at Okesuna Cemetery on Lagos Island, Lagos State.
His burial ceremony was graced by top family members including former Minister of Communications, Major General Tajudeen Olanrewaju (Rtd); former Lagos State Commissioner for Agriculture, Cooperative and Rural Development during the Buba Marwa military administration, Dr. Mufu Animashaun; Mr. Kofo Williams; and representatives of Oba Onilado of Ilado, Lagos, who led the convoy with the king’s staff as symbol of the royalty the deceased represented in his lifetime and as last respect for him.
Other dignitaries, who graced the funeral events, included former Managing Director Nigeria Industrial Development Bank (NIDB), Mr. Gbadebo Dallas; Retired Commissioner of Police, CP Tajudeen Bakre; Economist and former bank executive, Alhaji Taiwo Gbajumo; Retired Treasurer, Lagos State Civil Service, Alhaji Bolaji Are, among several others.
The body of Alhaji Raufu Ishola-Lemomu, a repository of knowledge of Lagos history, was buried on Saturday in accordance with Islamic rites.
The janazah prayer had been performed at his Idita, Apongbon residence after which his remains were taken through scheduled events starting from Apongbon to Oke Popo where convoy had a stop over for a brief lying-in-state and prayers by Islamic clerics before he was taken to the Okesuna Cemetery, where his remains were finally laid to rest at about 3pm.
Commonly said about the deceased was his commitment to uniting families and love for all.
The DEFENDER had reported earlier that the late Asi-Dosunmu Royal Family chairman died in Lagos on Friday December 29, 2023 at the age of 78.
He was survived by wife and children.
