FG hands over 40 houses for IDPs to Zamfara govt

The Federal Government has handed over 40 fully completed houses to Zamfara State Government for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
Speaking during the handover ceremony in Gusau, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Dr. Betta Edu, said the houses were provided for people who were displaced as a result of bandit attacks in their communities.
She said as the renewed hope government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was determined to provide shelter to IDPs across the country, 40 houses were fully completed and handed over to the government of Zamfara State for distribution to the beneficiaries.
Dr Edu said food items would also be provided for the IDPs in addition to giving them adequate training on various skills to be able to sustain themselves.
She said two additional IDPs’ cities would be constructed in the remaining two senatorial districts of Zamfara State to cater for the IDPs in the zones.
She called on the International communities to collaborate with the Federal Government and state government to see that adequate response by providing shelter, Health care, education, means of livelihood and vocational training centers.
She reassured the Zamfara State government of continued support from the Federal Government to achieve the desire of Governor Dauda Lawal to develop the state.
In his speech at the occasion, the state Governor Dauda Lawal thanked the Federal Government for the gesture and pledged to cooperate with the Federal government in attracting development to the state.
The minister had earlier visited the Federal University Gusau to sympathise with them over the unfortunate incident of kidnapped students of the school.
