Delta has bled from bad governance for too long – Ogboru
By ABIRHIRE THOMAS
The Governorship candidate of the ALL PROGRESSIVES GRAND ALLIANCE, “The People’s General” CHIEF GREAT OVEDJE OGBORU has recently lamented on the leadership situation in the state, that has handicapped growth and development.
According to him ” Delta State has bled from bad governance for too long and it’s time to change the narrative for the better”. He made this statement while addressing some pressure groups in Asaba some days back.
He said “Our state has experienced and is still experiencing a Leadership ideology where the only reason for which many aspire for political leadership position is to drill our treasury to enrich themselves and their committee of friends. This has placed the masses in perpetual poverty thereby, making life difficult for them.
“What is it that Deltans would say has been the positive impact of government in their livelihood in the state? What have they offered the people if not the deplorable roads that are unmotorable, none payment of retirees gratuity, displacement of Long existing companies such as Delta textile Mills Asaba, Beta Glass Company Ughelli, Delta Steel Company Udu, Sapele Rubber Company, etc. All were abandoned by the ruling party and their cohorts.
“Also, the high rate of unemployment amongst youth has driven many to get involved in illegal dealings such as Cyber Crime, Kidnappings, Robbery and Oil theft (bunkery) etc. These were not their original plans as youths but, it’s the circumstances they found themselves; resulting from bad governance in the state, has forced them into such negative means of livelihood.
“Moreso, the issue of poor education and high cost of schooling from basic to tertiary education cannot be over emphasized as this has rendered many parents hopeless in giving quality education to their children and many of our children today, have become school dropouts even at elementary stage.
“I say to all Deltans that, it is time to say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! to all these terrible happenings in our beloved State. It is so bad because Delta, even as an Oil rich state, has nothing to show for it.
“It is time for us to take a stand as individuals, families and organizations, irrespective of religion, tribe or socio political differences. We must stand strong and restore our collective hope for a better Delta State.
It is time to use our PVCs to speak the language of freedom, unity and progress. It is time to speak against poverty, suffering and injustice against the masses.
“We can do it, we can get it right in 2023.
“I’m GREAT OVEDJE OGBORU, I surrender myself to serve you as you are supposed to be served by those in power, I assure you of all round development across the three senatorial districts of Delta. I will ensure the revivial of moribund industries and establishment of new productive ones. From creation of job opportunities to development of human capital,to rehabilitation of deplorable roads to construction of new ones, We can and will Do it. WE DON’T PROMISE WHAT WE CANNOT DIO.
“To be sincere, as a people, you all have tried beyond your best for being part of this long and exhausting struggle for a new Delta despite the fact that, things have not worked out as expected. But be rest assured that come 2023, your mandate will stand. Let’s see this as a last fight for freedom and we will do it with all the key mechanisms and strategies to achieve victory at the end. A TRUE VICTORY FOR ALL DELTANS.
“Keep hope alive as a New Delta is here with #greatallanah2023 and no man born of a woman can stop our victory this time around. Go home and tell your people that, I GREAT OGBORU have not and will not forget my people,” he said.
