2023: Atiku pledges to unite Nigerians, as PDP presidential campaign holds in Edo
The Presidential Candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, on Saturday, said Nigeria’s unity will be his number one priority if given the opportunity to lead the country in 2023.
Atiku made the comment during his address at the PDP presidential campaign rally in Benin, Edo State capital.
He also made a strong case for state policing as an antidote to the current security challenges across the country.
Also present at the rally, which held inside the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin-City, were the Vice Presidential candidate of the PDP, Ifeanyi Okowa, Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, among others.
In his speech, Okowa, who is also the Delta State Governor, said Atiku was instrumental to developmental strides in the South-South region of the country.
It will be recalled that the PDP candidate and party stalwarts had held a similar campaign in Kaduna, Kaduna State, after its flag-off in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
Atiku, accompanied by National Chairman of the party, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, among other top party leaders, upon his arrival in Benin, visited the state Government House to the warmth reception by Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki assisted by other top government officials.
He subsequently proceeded to the palace of the Oba of Benin, Ewuare II, where he met with monarch and then was led in his convoy to the Ogbemudia Stadium venue of the campaign.
