Russian mixed martial arts fighter Islam Makhachev defeated Brazilian Charles Oliveira to win the UFC lightweight title on Saturday.

The fight ended with the victory of the Russian fighter using an arm triangle choke against Brazilian Oliveira.

Makhachev became the second Russian fighter to win the UFC lightweight title. Previously, this title was owned by Khabib Nurmagomedov, who vacated it in 2020 after defeating Justin Gaethje.
