Ahead of the July 22 local government election in Lagos state, 18 All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship aspirants are to enjoy automatic tickets.
Besides, all councilors who had served on term in the last dispensation would be returned.
These were decisions of the party during a stakeholders’ meeting held at its Acme road secretariat in Ogba Lagos.
APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, his Deputy, Mrs. Idiat Adebule, Speaker of the House of Assembly, Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, and other party stakeholders were in attendance.
The party stakeholders, it was learnt, met ahead of the primaries slated for Saturday.
No fewer than 2,500 aspirants are interested in the 57 councils and 373 wards as chairmen and councilors.
However, the ambition of thousands of the aspirants may have hit the brick wall as the party agreed on returning one-term councilors and 18 ex-Chairmen amidst protest and grumblings from members of the party.
Tinubu, while addressing the party members, urged them to accept the decision of the party with respect to the LG election.
He said as earlier agreed, the 18 chairmen who were promised automatic ticket for their efforts in the party and the State would be allowed to return, while the Sole Administrators who took over from Executive Secretaries (ES) of the LGs and LCDAs would not be allowed to contest in the election.
Ambode on his part charged members of the party to work round the clock for the party’s total victory in the election.
