We’ve uncovered smear campaign against ex-COAS, Buratai – HURIWA
Civil rights advocacy group, the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, HURIWA, Wednesday, said it has uncovered what it called a systematically hatched and well coordinated media campaign by some Abuja moneybags against former Chief of Army Staff, COAS, Lt. Gen Tukur Buratai (retd).
National coordinator of the group, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko, in a statement in Abuja, urged the media not to fall for the sponsored coordinated attacks against Buratai saying the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission, ICPC has not indicted him of any corruption allegation.
This is even as HURIWA regretted that some online media platforms have already been bribed to disseminate falsehoods against the former Army Chief.
Recall that the ICPC raided the Wuse II property of a military contractor recently, recovering huge sums of money in local and foreign currencies, exotic cars and expensive wristwatches but the anti graft agency has said while investigations are ongoing, it won’t pre-empt the outcome.
