Any country could be bullied like Russia, Russian Security Council Deputy Secretary Yuri Kokov opined during the meeting with foreign envoys.

“It is being used to fuel Russophobic sentiments in Western states, to promote the ideology of Nazism and genocide of Russian-speaking population, to spread fabricated false materials about the events in Ukraine, to restrict access to alternative sources of information. Tomorrow, any country may be subjected to such attack and bullying.”

According to the security official, leadership of a number of states does not shy away from using blatant extremists to achieve their goals, which creates fertile ground for terrorists and additional capabilities of online radicalization, negative informational and psychological influence on entire countries and ethnicities, provocation of national, religious and military conflicts.

“It is necessary to understand that, in the recent years, terrorism underwent fundamental changes, connected to its high internationalization, increase of degree of social danger, transformation of forms and methods of terrorist activity,” Kokov said.

He underscored that it is no longer enough to simply understand and wish to combat this phenomenon, and likewise successful actions of individual states and even coalitions on countering terrorism are not enough as well.

“The victory over the international terrorism as the global threat of modern times requires collective efforts of the entire global community, based on sincere desire to ensure safe and prosper life to the citizens not in words, but in deeds,” he noted, assuring that Russia remains always open for constructive cooperation, ready to interact and share its experience on countering terrorism with its partners.
