UPDATED: Kano explosion from gas not bomb, says Police
By OUR REPORTER
An update coming in from Kano has clarified that the explosion earlier on Tuesday in the Fagge Local Government Area of the North West Nigerian state was not from bomb as claimed in some online newspapers (excluding The DEFENDER) but that it happened as a result of gas explosion.
This was coming as the state’s Police Command spoke about the unfortunate development, attributing the incident, which occurred at Aba by Court road in Sabon Gari area of the local government, to gas explosion.
According to Kano State Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, four people have so far been discovered dead while security personnel, he said, were trying to find the remaining victims from the scene of occurrence as at press time.
“It is not bomb explosion; it’s a gas cylinder. There’s a gas welder here and he was the first victim of the situation.
“As at now, one female and three males have been killed. All the security agencies are here. The Civil Defence, Brigade commander, Air force, myself and the director, DSS, are all on ground.
“We will extend our investigation and at the end of the day we will come out with exactly what happened.”
