DG NTMA commends well attended AGM of Biu Community School Old Students’ Association in Gombe

We call on all the members including a former Governor of Borno State and currently a ranking Senator in the person of Senator Kashim Shettima, Group Managing Director of NNPC Ltd, Malam Mele Kyari, Alhaji Ahmed Kuru, Alhaji Aliyu Galadima and a host of others, to join hands with Emir of Biu and Emir of Akko in revitalising the school to its former enviable position in order to touch, positively, the lives of upcoming students.”

 

The Director General, Nigerian Textile Manufacturers Association (NTMA), Alhaji Hamma Kwajaffa, has congratulated the Emir of Biu, Alhaji Mai Mustapha Umar II, the Emir of Akko, Alhaji Umar Atiku Mohammed, Chairman Local Organising Committee, Dr Mohammed Isa Umar, Executive President, Prof Mohammed Hassan, other EXCO and general members of Biu Community Secondary School’s Old Students’ Association on the successful outcome of their 2nd Annual General Meeting (AGM).

The DEFENDER reports that the Emir of Akko, a  Patron of the association while coordinating the event, provided leadership in a way that galvanised and implored all members, who are already creme de la creme of the society, to wake up their individual and collective responsibility of assisting in rebuilding the school to its regain the status of its glorious days of academic performance and social standing.

The Emir of Akko, Gombe State, HRH Alhaji Umar Atiku Mohammed, 4th left, President, Prof Mohammed Hassan, 3rd left, Chairman Local Organising Committee, Dr Mohammed Isa Umar, 4th right and other Exco and general members of Biu Community Secondary School’s Old Students’ Association, during the 2nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the school at Madugu Hotel Gombe, on Saturday March 19, 2022.

By the constitution of the association, Emir of Biu is Grand Patron supported by the Emir of Akko and other patrons such as Principal of the school and the Governor of Borno State. Biu Community Secondary School, now called Senior Science Secondary School Biu, is located at Biu, in the Biu Emirate of Borno State, North East Nigeria.

President of the Old Students’ Association, who is a professor of nuclear physics and Head of Department Physics University of Maiduguri, Professor Muhammad Hassan, led other members like the Chairman Local Organising Committee who is a former Gombe State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Muhammad Isa Umar, United States of America based Muhammad Umar Kano, among others, to the AGM that was held at the prestigious Madugu Hotel Gombe, on Saturday March 19, 2022.

Alhaji Kwajaffa, who joined via zoom said, “the main essence of the meeting was for the old students to come together and develop the school. At the last Old Students, AGM last Saturday, the Emir of Akko, Alhaji Umar Atiku Mohammed, particularly appealed to Senator Shettima to come to the aid of the school.

“We have had a good example of late former GMD of NNPC, Dr. Makanti Bello, who turned around his Alma matter secondary school Misau, Bauchi State to an enviable position that it now looks like a university. Allah has blessed former students of Biu Community Secondary School to the fact that they can do more than that to be able to turn around the school to a modern standard in order to ease teaching and learning activities among teachers and students alike,” His Royal Highness Emir of Akko enthused.

Commenting, Alhaji Hamma Kwajaffa said, “Most attendees were happy with the reunion since some of them have not seen each other for the past 45 years.  The organisers were actually overwhelmed as they planned for 150 members but 215 members finally graced the occasion.  Next AGM has been fixed to hold in the school’s premises, Biu.”
