One of the contestants, Moshood Adeoti, a former state chairman of APC, is the anointed candidate of Aregbesola, while the governor, Oyetola is believed to be backed by Lagos politician, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
As the all important All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election holds this Saturday in the State of Osun, South West Nigeria, adequate security has been provided for a hitch-free exercise during the direct primary mode of conduct, approved by the party, taking place across the 323 wards in the state.
Accreditation prior to the election is expected to start 8:00am while the main primary election starts by 12pm.
The security presence may not be unconnected to the clashes that have been recorded before the election day, in some parts of the state over a leadership crisis.
There are currently two factions of the APC in Osun. One faction is loyal to Gboyega Oyetola, the governor, who is seeking re-election, while the other faction is of members loyal to the Minister of Interior and former Governor of the state, Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola.
The contestants have been in a war of words before now.
