Sultan, Governors, others attend Ahmadu Bello’s grandson’s burial
Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, Governors Nasir El-Rufai (Kaduna), Aminu Waziri Tambuwal (Sokoto) and Atiku Bagudu (Kebbi), attended the Janazah prayers of a Magajin Garin Sokoto and grandson of Late Sir Ahmadu Bello, former Premier of Northern Region and Sardauna of Sokoto, His Royal Highness Alhaji Hassan Danbaba, in Sokoto on Saturday.
The 51-year-old Hassan Danbaba slumped and died in Kaduna Saturday afternoon, according to family sources.
Leading the Janazah prayers, the Chief Imam of Sultan Bello Mosque, Sheikh Muhammad Akwara, said death is inevitable for all mortals, and appealed to people to make their paths right with Allah while alive.
The remains of Dambaba were laid to rest according to Islamic rites at a location few steps away from the Sultan’s Palace at the family Cemetery of Magajin Garis.
Reacting to the death, Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, the chairman, Senate Committee on Defence, expressed grief over the sad incidence.
Other dignitaries at the burial ceremony included former Governor of Sokoto State, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, who described the late Mr Danbaba as a distinguished gentleman and a respected traditional ruler that has contributed immensely to the development of Sokoto Caliphate and Nigeria in general.
Wamakko said with his death, Sokoto Caliphate has lost a father and a respected leader.
The Senator, whose condolence message was relayed through his spokesperson, Hassan Sanyinnawal, said Danbaba lived a life of service to the caliphate, Nigeria and humanity.
