PANTAMI: We are strongly behind you, Christian elders tell Gombe CAN Chairman, Rev. Congo
The Christian Elders in Gombe State on Thursday, assured the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Rev. Sunday Congo, stating that his subjects are strongly in support of his leadership.
He has been very transparent, accountable and humble CAN chairman we had in Gombe, they said.
Elder Musa Yakubu listed the various developmental projects executed by the CAN chairman, which include the CAN guest house built within three months, the ICT training Centre for the Christian youth in Gombe state.
“We are here to show our solidarity and appreciations for such an outstanding achievement and not the chop I chop that has destroyed CAN.
“Yes, Dr. Isa Ali Pantami, Hon. Minister of Communication and Digital Economy is from Gombe State, the CAN chairman is NOT wrong to congratulate him if we truly want to coexist peacefully together and to wish our people to succeed. What has Dr. Pantami done wrong to Gombe state Christians,” he asked.
According to Elder Musa, “I must tell you that I have sampled the opinion of my people and 99.9 percent of them are strongly behind you Rev. Congo. We don’t say things for selfish interest”.
He said, “Our people sent me to warn those desperate busy body lurking around to hijack CAN to stay clear from Gombe CAN. The issue of letter to Dr. Pantami is an in-house issue which was collectively resolved.
“Why would the General Secretary of CAN who never visited Gombe state even when Christians are killing themselves in communal clashes suddenly surface to create” trouble, he asked, adding by asking, “Has CAN General Secretary sent a grain to our IDPs? Has he ever paid attention to the crisis going on in the northeast?
“Barr. Daramola has committed more grievous crimes than a mere congratulatory letter. Those using unfunctional offices to dictate for CAN in Gombe should face their business and leave CAN Gombe State alone.
“We have decided to issue this press release to advise the sycophants who perpetually want to remote control CAN for their personal benefits to stay clear or we expose their dirty deals.
“We prayed for our CAN chairman today that he would be victorious in the face of these desperate move to give CAN Gombe a bad name.”
He quoted Romans 12:18 18 “If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone and said, ” We will continue to do whatever we can for people to coexist together peacefully and in love for each other.”
