Buratai meets President Patrice Talon of Republic of Benin, presents Letter of Credence to assume duty as Nigeria’s Ambassador to country
Nigeria’s Ambassador to the Republic of Benin, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, has formally met with the West African country’s President Patrice Talon.
This is coming a week after the arrest of the embattled secessionist and Yoruba tribalist ‘warrior’, Sunday Igboho and his wife, Ropo.
General Buratai met with the Beninese President to present his letter of credence to him, meaning that the former Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff has assumed duty as Ambassador of Nigeria to the country.
President Muhammadu Buhari appointed Buratai as Nigeria’s envoy to the Republic of Benin.
Igboho was arrested in Cotonou, the Francophone country’s seat of government and economic nerve centre, while trying to escape to Germany.
He had fled the country after the Department of State Services (DSS) raided his residence and subsequently declared him wanted.
Igboho is being tried in Benin for several offences against the law of the country.
