The Imo State Police Command has finally deemed it safe enough for former governor of the state and current Senator representing Imo West Senatorial District, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, to return to his house after it successfully dispersed hoodlums, who attempted to harm the former governor, a source close to the scene of crisis says.

One of the thugs brought to Okorocha’s premises in governor’s office white hilux van.

A report by the source, Onwuasoanya Jones, said Okorocha, a founding father of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been having a running battle over the soul of the party with Governor Hope Uzodimma, whom some commentators describe as an imposed governor and a gatecrasher into the APC.

As part of strategies to weaken the presidential hopeful’s political clout, Uzodimma has allegedly deployed all manners of intimidation in trying to get back at him. This includes the forceful invasion and sealing of his properties, threat to demolish his businesses and revocation of land titles allocated by the former governor.

Unable to bear these affronts on his political and commercial interests any further, the lawmaker’s supporters had resisted the government’s attempts to forcefully take over the finely situated Royal Palm Apartments belonging to Okorocha’s wife which was sealed by the state government under Uzodinma, a former PDP senator known, like Femi Fani-Kayode and Ayo Fayose, for his working against the APC government of Okorocha until he suddenly decamped to APC and party interest linked with Bola Tinubu and sacked Adams Oshiomhole-leadership of the party imposed him on the state chapter this infuriating the then governor to want his inlaw as his successor.

On hearing about the sealing, Okorocha moved to visit the property to assess the situation as well as advise his teeming supporters not to resort to violence or any act capable of breaching the peace of the state.

Okorocha’s car smatched with bottle by some of the governor’s thugs inside the estate.

In an unexpected twist, some gunmen led by Nze Chinasa Nwaneri, Special Adviser to the Governor Uzodinma on Special Duties, invaded the premises, unleashing mayhem on the former governor, his close aides, security aides and ordinary Imo people sympathetic to his plight.

Dr. Anwukah, the former governor’s son-in-law and the former governor’s police orderly were among those who sustained gunshot injuries during the Governor Uzodinma’s government calculated stacks on his predecessor.

A detachment of police officers were promptly deployed to save the situation and ensure the safety of the Imo West Senator. As a safety measure, he was taken to the Imo State Police Command headquarters, Owerri, where he had a friendly interaction with the Commissioner of Police and other Police officers, until the police considered it safe enough to allow him to go home.

“The former governor shall continue his usual meetings with his numerous political associates and friends at his Spibat residence in Owerri, while he will be briefing his Imo West constituents on some of his legislative strides in the past one year at his Urashi Resort residence in Ogboko, Idea to South,” the source said.

In the meantime, the police in the state has dismissed media report if Okorocha’s arrest, saying there was nothing like that.

However, traces of 2023 ambition if Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu hare said to be seen in the Okorocha’s latest plight in the hands of Governor Uzodinma being, according to our source, that Uzodinma, a former PDP senator, was brought into the APC and that he could not have been governor if Tinubu did not help him through the use of Adams Oshiomhole as national chairman of the APC.

The concern of many Igbo in and outside of Imo now is about how the governor is helping to destroy APC in the state whereas those that brought him in think he is working for their presidential chances come 2023.

The entire South Eastern Nigeria is believed to be an anti-APC region including Anambra that has been strenously APGA and former party of Okorocha.

For bringing in the APC in in a way that punctured the political landscape of the Igbo region, we gathered, is one major crimes committee by Okorocha.

“There is no doubt that Nkedi Ohakim, succeeded by Okorocha, told President Goodluck Jonathan during a visit to Owerri when the now former president was acknowledge an educational structure he called beautiful university that it was one of primary schools built by Governor Okorocha. That was not part of the transformation Owerri to a befitting state capital and cordial civil servant relationship that upped the standard of the state.

“Why should such a governor not be acknowledged if not that people can be more devilish than satan? Just because of political change he brought, you never ever acknowledged that the former governor ever did any good yet your state capital was a no-go area before he came. Secondly, Okorocha is the most qualified, countrywide acceptable candidate for Igbo presidency. Those who want to be president in Yoruba Land and who because of that have been removing Buharist politicians from APC’s vantage positions are responsible for the current crisis using Uzodinma who they imposed to destroy his chances of being their major challenger in the East.

“Have you quickly forgotten the recent history of how the same people using Uzodinma now used him in the persecution of Governor Godwin Obaseki and turned the never-being-PDP politician to become one as it were. Did they not almost ruin APC until President Muhammadu Buhari, who had always played gentleman politics to the detriment of the party and even Nigeria, began to wake up?” One of the sources asked.
