President Buhari is hale and hearty, Saraki confirms as President meets Tinubu, Akande in Abuja House

The President of the Senate, Dr  Bukola Saraki, said on Thursday that President Muhammadu Buhari was hale and hearty in London.

Saraki stated this on his twitter handle and said that he spoke with the President Wednesday night.

Saraki spoke just as All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Chief Bisi Akande were reported by Presidency to have met with President Buhari in Abuja House at the Nigerian High Commission in London, where the President is spending his holiday.

The Presidency released the image of the meeting via its verified Twitter handle, @NGRPresident through which President Buhari was seen in the picture discussing with the party leaders.

Earlier in his hint, Senate President Bukola Saraki said the President was in good spirit, contrary to insinuations in some sections of the public that he was in a critical condition.

“Happy to have spoken with President Buhari tonight. He was in good spirit and joked about my working late into the night, as usual.

“He is hale and hearty, going by his voice on telephone which suggested that he is in sound health,’’ Saraki tweeted.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports speculations and insinuations on the state of health of the president since he proceeded on a 10-day vacation to the United Kingdom on January 19.

In a letter to the Senate, he indicated that he would carry out routine medical checkups.

However, he failed to return at the expiration of 10 days, but forwarded another letter to the senate requesting extension of time to complete the series of tests he would do and receive results based on advice of his doctors.

The Senate on Tuesday confirmed receipt of the request.

…Buhari not in danger, not in hospital — FG

The Federal Government has declared that President Muhammadu Buhari is not in any danger health-wise.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, declared this Wednesday while fielding questions from State House correspondents after the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) presided over by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo.

According to the minister, President Muhammadu Buhari is “well, hale and hearty.”
Mohammed said if Buhari were not well, his cabinet members would not have been easily going about their normal duties.
President Buhari on Sunday extended his 10-day vacation in the United Kingdom in order to complete and receive the results of a series of tests recommended by his doctors.

The information minister emphasised today that there was no cause for concern over the president’s health.
He said Buhari was not in any hospital and that there was no need “to be giving bulletin” on his health status.
