The Caretaker Committee will also serve as Convention Planning Committee.

Governor of Yobe State, Mallam Bala Buni, it was learned, was named Chairman of the committees while Senator Akpan Udoedehe will serve as Secretary. Other members include Governors of Niger and Osun states (details in list below).

The NEC, according to Presidency sources, ratified all decisions taken in respect of Edo Guber Primaries.

Resolutions if today’s National Executive Council meeting were on; withdrawal of all cases in Court, the dissolution of NWC, the establishment of Caretaker/Convention Committee and the ratification of the Gubernatorial Primaries in Edo State.

By ratification of all decisions made on the Edo State gubernatorial primaries, it means that the Muhammadu Buhari-led NEC meeting, in its wisdom, spirit of reconciliation and overall interest of the party, agreed that Ize Iyamu is APC’s candidate for the September governorship election in the state.

“A new letter will be written to INEC by the new Caretaker Chairman and Secretary. The only problem is that INEC has the option of rejecting Osagie Ize-Iyamu on the grounds of the fact that INEC didn’t monitor the primaries as Giadom was the presiding officer at the time and legally discredited the primary,” an Abuja source said in a comment picked by The DEFENDER.

Former Minister Shittu reacts

In the meantime, former Minister of Communications, Dr. Abdur-Raheem Adebayo Shittu, has described Thursday’s NEC meeting as a complete masterstroke.

A complete and transcendental masterstroke by our dear President to rescue our dear Party from the stranglehold of mischievous and corrupt Party leaders for repositioning into a 21st Century political party committed to the real transformation of our dear fatherland, Nigeria. CONGRATULATIONS to all truly progressive members of our great party, the APC,” former Minister of Communications, Dr. Abdur-Raheem Adebayo Shittu said.
