BREAKING: President Buhari receives Obaseki in auduence at Aso Rock
President Muhammadu Buhari met with Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja on Monday.
Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, confirmed the meeting via his official Facebook page where pictorial evidence of the meeting was provided.
The photographs posted by Adesina showed that Chief of Staff to the President, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, was in attendance while the meeting lasted.
Subject matter of the meeting was not available to The DEFENDER as at the time of filing this report but wathers of events as they unfold said the meeting could not be unconnected to the drama that is yet playing out by politicians of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State as governorship election in the state is fast approaching.
Governor Obaseki, who has been having loggerhead with his predecessor and National Chairman of APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, was said to have earlier met with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu but returned emptyhanded as he reportedly the governor was told by him that he could not be helped in any way.
On Sunday, eight All Progressives Congress (APC) governors met with Tinubu at the State House Marina, Lagos State to also canvass support for Obaseki’s re-election.
Tinubu is believed to back Oshiomhole in ensuring that the governor will not get a second second term.
With the visit to the Villa and subsequent meeting with the Leader of the Party and President of the Federal Republic, Muhammad Buhari, the source confused in us that he that will stop Obaseki from returning to Benin after the poll has not joined the party.
