Members of the Ondo State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, on Wednesday advised the outgoing governor, Olusegun Mimiko against creating burden for his successor, Rotimi Akeredolu.
The APC members in large numbers made the call during a protest to the state House of Assembly in Akure the state capital.
Barricading the entrance to the Assembly complex, the aggrieved protesters they would not allow Mimiko to access into the Assembly complex to present the 2017 appropriation bill because he is already on his way out of office.
Mimiko is scheduled to present the 2017 Appropriation Bill at 12 noon today.
According to the irate APC members, they were also protesting against an alleged move by the governor to send 38 bills to the Assembly for passage into law.
Addressing reporters at the Assembly entrance, leader of the protesters, Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye, alleged that the outgoing governor was lobbying lawmakers to earn life pension.
“We want to appeal to the Governor to leave the state peacefully and not create burden on the incoming administration with his 2017 budget.” Ogunleye said.
Akeredolu, a member of the APC was announced as winner of the November 26 election , after polling 244,842 votes to beat his closest rival, Eyitayo Jegede of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, who garnered 150,380 votes.
