BREAKING: Tambuwal in final win as Supreme Court dismisses Aliyu’s appeal challenging his victory as Sokoto Governor

Most focused of seven appeals before the Supreme Court for over a week now, that is Sokoto State governorship election case filed by All Progressives Congress (APC) Candidate, Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu, has been concluded in favour of Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.

The Apex court, which stood down on the case after hearing last Tuesday for judgement, delivered the verdict this morning, Monday January 20, 2020 giving final victory to Dr. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal as democratically elected governor of the state in the April 2019 election.

The Supreme court dismissed the Ahmed Aliyu’s appeal against Tambuwal’s victory in a unanimous judgment delivered by Justice Uwani Abba-Aji.

Its dismissal of the appeal was on the ground that the appellant failed to prove his allegation of non-compliance with the electoral act and issues of over-voting.

Early Monday’s cheering victory of the former Nigeria’s number four citizen at the apex court, according to a jubilating well-wisher, “has restored our confidence in the judiciary.”
