BREAKING: Niger Republic to emulate Sokoto Zakat Commission, domesticate its ideals in country
*Idea is to improve well being of our people – Nigerien Minister
The Niger Republic will collaborate with the Sokoto State Zakat and Waqf (Endowment) Commission (SOZECOM) and thereby emulate its ideals in effort to improve the wellbeing of its citizens.
Niger’s Minister of Culture, Mr. Assamana Malam Isaha, made the disclosure while receiving the Executive Chairman, SOZECOM, Mallam Muhammad Lawal Maidoki, Sadaukin Sakkwato, who paid him a courtesy visit in his accommodation in Sokoto on Monday.
The minister, who is on one day official visit in the state, was taken through the history of the commission and operational strategies it adopts in carrying out its mandate as well as the tremendous support and cooperation it enjoys from the Sokoto State Government.
Also during the visit, according to a statement obtained from SOZECOM WhatsApp platform signed by Mr. Husseini Ahmad of the Commission’s Media and Publicity Unit, on Tuesday, the duo deliberated extensively on areas of collaboration between the two institutions of the two countries “to complement each other in this regard since people of Niger and Nigeria share a great deal religiously and culturally.”
Mallam Maidoki later presented copies of the commission’s magazines and other publications to the visiting minister.
Those, who accompanied the Executive Chairman on the visit to the Nigerien Minister, include the Acting Director Waqf of the commission, Mr. Muhammad Jabbi Ibrahim, among others.
