APC floors PDP, other parties to win Bauchi South senatorial bye-election

The candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Lawan Yahaya Gumau, has defeated the candidates of opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other political parties to win the Bauchi south senatorial district bye-election.

Gumau polled 119,487 votes against PDP’s Dr Ladan Salihu who scored 50,256 votes.

The APC won with clear majority in six out of the seven local government areas of the senatorial district. It won in Bauchi, Alkaleri, Kirfi, Tafawa Balewa, Dass and Toro.

PDP however won in Bogoro local government area, which is one of the three local government areas represented by the Speaker, House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara. The two other local government in Dogara’s constituency are Dass and Tafawa Balewa.
