Senate begins screening of Magu as EFCC boss
The Senate will on Thursday begin a confirmation hearing on the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes (EFCC), Mr Ibrahim Magu.
This was disclosed at plenary on Wednesday by the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, who presided over the session.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the Presidency had in July this year written the Senate, seeking the screening and confirmation of Magu as substantive chairman of EFCC.
Buhari appointed Magu as acting chairman of the EFCC after the removal of Mr Ibrahim Lamorde on Nov. 9, 2015.
Before his appointment as the acting EFCC chairman, Magu was the head of Economic Governance Unit of the commission.
If confirmed, Magu will be the fourth head of the anti-graft agency, after Nuhu Ribadu, Farida Waziri and Ibrahim Lamorde.
