Momodu added, “Tinubu has virtually taken over everything, including the executive, the legislature and the judiciary.”
A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dele Momodu, has accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of exercising excessive control over Nigeria’s democratic institutions, alleging that his administration has performed worse than that of former military Head of State, General Sani Abacha.
Momodu made the allegation on Wednesday during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time, where he accused Tinubu of coercing Nigerians in his bid to retain power.
“Tinubu is doing exactly what Abacha did: coercing everyone because he wants to be President,” he said.
The ADC chieftain further alleged that Tinubu had extended his influence over the three arms of government—the executive, legislature and judiciary.
“What else do you expect from Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress? President Tinubu has done far worse than what Abacha did,” Momodu said.
He added: “Tinubu has virtually taken over everything, including the executive, the legislature and the judiciary.”
The allegations reflect Momodu’s criticism of the Tinubu administration and its handling of democratic institutions.
