Court affirms Ladipo Johnson as NDC Lagos Central Senatorial Candidate

In a judgment delivered on Friday, Justice D. E. Osiagor dismissed the suit, holding that it failed for want of jurisdiction and lacked merit.
The Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, has dismissed a suit challenging the outcome of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) primary election that produced Bamofin Ladipo Johnson as the party’s Lagos Central Senatorial candidate.
The suit was filed by Hon. Babasola Sebanjo.
In a judgment delivered on Friday, Justice D. E. Osiagor dismissed the suit, holding that it failed for want of jurisdiction and lacked merit.
The judgment was welcomed by the media team of Ladipo Johnson, which described it as a confirmation of his candidacy and called for unity among party members ahead of the 2027 elections.
In a statement signed by Deborah Aina, the media team said, “We commend our legal team, led by Adebola Adewara, Esq. and Adekunle Akitoye, Esq., for their exceptional representation. We also acknowledge the steadfast defense put forward by the 1st Defendant’s lawyer (NDC), Ikechukwu Onodi, and the 2nd Defendant’s lawyer (INEC), Mr. Hassan T. Fajimite, Esq.
“With this legal distraction firmly put behind us, Bamofin Ladipo Johnson extends a hand of fellowship to Hon. Babasola Sebanjo and his supporters. The primary election was a family affair, and the true victory belongs to the people of Lagos Central who are deserving of robust representation.
“Team Ladipo Johnson for Lagos Central remains fully focused on moving forward. We are ready to launch a purposeful, vibrant, and issue-based campaign that addresses the core needs of the Lagos Central Senatorial District—ranging from economic empowerment and youth development to sustainable infrastructure and inclusive governance.
“We urge all party faithful, stakeholders, and residents of Lagos Central to unite as we march toward victory. The time has come to focus entirely on the issues that matter to our constituents and deliver the progressive leadership that Lagos Central deserves.”
The media team said the candidate’s campaign would now focus on issues affecting residents of the Lagos Central Senatorial District, including economic empowerment, youth development, sustainable infrastructure and inclusive governance.
It also called on party members, stakeholders and residents of the district to work together and support an issue-based campaign ahead of the elections.
